viaSport is conducting a research project to better understand the current state of coaching in B.C. The purpose is to explore the coaching system to identify enablers and barriers and understand the impact they have on different stakeholders within the system. The study will focus on the following areas within coaching:

Parents of Juan De Fuca Lacrosse
We are on the verge of a new box lacrosse season. Over the weekend at the AGM
November 4 th new ideas and rules were discussed, so we are looking for parents to join the
executive team to help build on the information that came forward and make this a successful
There are numerous positions that need to be filled so that we can start the planning for
this exciting year. If you are interested in any one of the following positions please forward your
name to Ryan Hyland, Gord Sharpe or Tim Frost.
The following positions will be appointed by the directors of the Juan De Fuca Association over
the next few weeks:
- Head Coach (Lower Division): Mini-Tyke, Tyke, Novice
- Head Coach (Upper Division): Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget
- Head Referee
- Referee Allocator
- Jersey Manager
- Equipment Manager
- Head Manager
- Risk Manager
- Floor Allocator
- Booster Coordinator/Whaler Wear
- Director of Gaming
- School & Community Programs Coordinator
- Tournament Coordinator
- Marketing Director

The BCLA Board of Directors has asked that the following message be distributed to our members.
The legalization of cannabis does not affect the status of cannabis use in sport, and that the BCLA, the CLA and the CADP have zero tolerance regarding the use of banned substances.
Although the Government of Canada has legalized cannabis, the BCLA members shall remain subject to the BC Lacrosse Association’s policies, in particular, REGULATION 15: Doping Control, as well as the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP) – http://www.bclacrosse.com/pdfs/2016-2017%20BCLA%20General%20Operating%20Policy%20-%20REGULATION%2015%20-%20Doping%20Control%20Policy.pdf.
