Referee Clinics

Here are the Island box clinic dates for Vancouver Island. Please contact Cathy Edwards with the date and level of clinic you wish to attend (Waitlist only for entry level refs ~ email Cathy). Cut off for registration will be 10 days prior to that clinic. There will be no registrations accepted after the cutoff date. Ensure you get your name into Cathy ASAP.

Please see the level requirements below and determine which one you are eligible for.
For the new Entry Level refs, once we see how many returning refs there are, we will then make a decision on how many new Entry Level refs we take. So there is no guarantee that you will be registered to ref this year. However, if you are not registered to ref this year,you will get priority for next year.

> Saturday March 7 -Level 2 North Island (Nanaimo)
> Saturday March 7 -Entry Level South Island (Victoria)
> Saturday March 7 -Level 1 South Island (Victoria)
> Sunday March 8 -Level 1 North Island (Nanaimo)
> Sunday March 8 -Level 2 South Island (Victoria)
> Saturday March 14 – Final IslandEntry Level (Nanaimo)

Entry Level

Minimum 13 years of age (BC Amendment) AND

Has no officiating experience AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 60% on his/her 2014 CLA Entry Level certification exam

Guidelines: May officiate Novice (or equivalent level of play) and below

Level 1

Minimum 14 years of age (BC Amendment) AND

Has been previously certified as a CLA Entry Level official AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 70% on his/her 2014 CLA certification exam

OR

Minimum 16 years of age AND

Has some lacrosse background with no officiating experience or has some officiating experience in

another sport COMBINED with the permission of the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating (or

his/her delegate) AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 70% on his/her 2014 CLA Level One certification exam

Guidelines: May officiate Peewee (or equivalent level of play) and below

Level 2

Minimum 16 years of age AND

Has been previously certified as a CLA Level One Official AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 75% on his/her 2014 CLA certification exam

OR

Minimum 18 years of age AND

Has an extensive lacrosse background with no officiating experience or some officiating experience in

another sport COMBINED with the permission of the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating (or

his/her delegate) AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 75% on his/her 2014 CLA Level Two certification exam

Guidelines: May officiate Midget (or equivalent level of play) and below, based on evaluation and

provided the official is two years older than the division officiated

Level 3 Minor

Minimum 18 years of age AND

Has been previously certified as a CLA Level Two within the past two years AND

Has applied to the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating, including a successful written on-floor

evaluation by the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating (or his/her delegate) or has been

recommended to the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating by an appropriate delegate AND

Has been invited by the appropriate Provincial Director of Officiating or his/her delegate to certify as a

CLA Level Three AND

Has achieved a minimum grade of 80% on his/her 2014 CLA Level Three certification exam

Guidelines: Eligible to apply for a CLA National Championship, with a successful on-floor evaluation

at the level of play applied for, by the appropriate Director of Officiating (or his/her delegate)
