1. Technical Bulletin regarding the Bauer Hockey Corp recalls goal masks and cages:

It has come to the attention of the CLA that there has been a recall on certain Bauer goal masks and cages which was issued by Bauer Hockey Corp. on March 31, 2015. The official recall information can be found at the following website:
http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2015/52703r-eng.php

In particular this recall involves the following goal masks and cages:
Bauer Concept C1 Goal Mask with Certified Titanium Oval Wire
Bauer NME 10 Goal Mask with Certified Titanium Oval Wire
Bauer RP NME Ti Titanium Cage

The CLA encourages and lacrosse participants to follow up with the company if they are currently using any of the affected equipment. Consumers should stop using the recalled goal masks with the affected wire cages and contact Bauer Hockey Corp for a replacement cage and complimentary throat protector.
For more information, consumers may contact Bauer’s Customer Service toll-free at 1-844-448-4246, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST. Consumers may also contact Bauer’s Customer Service by email or visit Bauer’s website.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) would like to ensure we are keeping our participants as up to date as possible with regards to equipment safety issues. Although we may not be able to keep track of all equipment recalls, when they are brought to our attention the CLA will post the information on our website. Players and parents are responsible to watch for equipment recalls and information at all times and to follow up with the manufacturer through the process provided by any recall notice.
Additional information and technical bulletins related to equipment may be found at http://cla.pointstreaksites.com/view/cla/equipment-14/helmets-facemasks

2. Goalie Equipment Exemption Form. At the request of the CLA’s Board of Director the CLA will produce a revised Goalkeeper Equipment Exemption Certificate, hence changing the process with which we informed the athletes’ parents, local association’s president and Member Associations (MA) of a successful request for goalkeeper equipment exemption. Currently, this process is done by returning the completed goalkeeper equipment exemption form signed by the Safety & Equipment Committee Chair and on which the CLA gold seal is applied to athletes’ parents, local association’s president and MA.

Making this minor adjustment will allow us to remove personal information from a document that may be required to be attached to the game sheet and seen by people who should not have access to such sensitive information. Be reassured that the request for goalkeeper equipment exemption form and approval process are not altered in anyway. The CLA is simply taking this extra step to respect and protect the privacy of the members.
