Colwood Calendar Photo Contest

I wanted to invite the Juan de Fuca Lacrosse Association and its members to enter the Colwood Calendar Photo Contest.

We’re creating a 2020 calendar that will celebrate the beauty and energy of our Colwood community. Each month throughout 2019, we’ll put out the call for your best photos of a location in Colwood from that month.

The theme for MAY is SPORTS & RECREATION, so it’s right up your alley! We encourage people to submit photos showing sports like soccer, little league, football, lacrosse or rugby…scenes from one Colwood’s spectacular golf courses…people playing volleyball at West Shore Parks & Recreation or the Royal Beach Park…families cycling or hiking on the Galloping Goose trail or a local park.

You can also encourage people to vote for your photos online, so it’s a fun way to increase your exposure. The Mayor will select one feature photo for each month and the winning photographer will receive a gift card to a local Colwood eatery and a coveted Colwood mug.

Help show off all the recreation that Colwood has to offer!

Cameron Dunkerley, the Victoria Jr.A Shamrocks Goaltender, in partnership with Saanich Lacrosse is offering goalie clinics for minor lacrosse association goalies. These sessions are designed to provide them with specific training throughout the season.

These sessions are inclusive of gender, age, experience and level of lacrosse. The sessions are open to any minor lacrosse goalie (Saanich, JDF, VELA and Peninsula).

Cameron has been working with goalies for the last 6 years and playing for almost 20 now. He hopes to share his knowledge and passion with young goaltenders to develop them and work towards their full potential this year.

The sessions will be at Braefoot Box, starting this Friday, May 24 from 6-7pm and running each Friday thereafter. The cost of each session will be $20/goalie.

Please contact Cameron at camdunkerley@gmail.com to confirm your spot.

A huge congrats to the JDF midget A2 team this weekend for winning gold in the barn burner tournament. Often short benched with only 12 runners, the coaching staff and players not only won, but with respect. Well done to all!

Congrats Tyler and Noah

Congrats to our 2 JDF Peewee boys Tyler Williams and Noah Schumann who were both selected to attend Team BC camp on the mainland three weeks ago.

After making final selections, Tyler has not been selected as a goalie for the final team but as a first year Peewee player this is still a huge accomplishment and we are super proud and wish him best of luck in future years!

Noah, runner, has made Team BC’s final selection and will be representing JDF and B.C. this year.
Congrats and proud of both of you boys!
